Saifedean Ammous

Saifedean Ammous is a Lebanese-American economist and author best known for his work on Bitcoin and monetary economics. He earned his PhD in Sustainable Development from Columbia University in 2011 and has taught economics at the Lebanese American University. Ammous gained international recognition with his 2018 book The Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking, which explores the history of money and the role of Bitcoin as a potential alternative to fiat currency. He has since published The Fiat Standard: The Debt Slavery Alternative to Human Civilization (2021), Principles of Economics (2023), and Fiat Food (2024), where he examines the effects of monetary policy on nutrition and health. Ammous is a prominent voice in the Bitcoin community and frequently lectures and writes on topics related to sound money, economic history, and the societal consequences of inflation.
