As always, Karen M. Moning does not disappoint.
Another thrilling book to fill the hole Mac and Barrons have left behind since Shadowfever.
These books are such fast reads and I just can't put them down!
Maybe it's because of the first-person PoV, but you just can't help floundering behind Mac, as she tries to navigate this complicated world, where nothing is as it seems, and no one ever tells you everything.
She is always just catching up to what's really going on, and so are you.
I recommend this series to everyone looking for a great Urban Fantasy story.
Another great trilogy by Nora Roberts.
Between this one and the Circle Trilogy, I have to say this one is even better.
Probably because Ireland is awesome and you can really see it, and smell it, as you go along.
Having lived there for a year, I have to say this book brought me a lot of fond memories. And a very strong earning to become a witch (if I could!) ;)
Good choice if you want a beautiful romance book, with lots of great food and craic!
This is a great book for those of us who aren't big into Sci-fi!
Despite the title, it's more Sci-fi than Fantasy, although it does have a bit of both, and then some stories that are really in between (or just far out of any classification!).
It really renewed my love for short stories and it's an amazing read for people who spend time in public transport or who just don't have a lot of reading-time, because you can read a complete story on the time you have free!
Highly recommend this!
“HARRY DRESDEN — WIZARD Lost Items Found. Paranormal Investigations. Consulting. Advice. Reasonable Rates. No Love Potions, Endless Purses, Parties, or Other Entertainment”
I've got to say, Harry Dresden is a pretty hilarious guy, for someone who always seems to be about to get killed...
I advise everyone to give this book a go! It's action-packed, funny and sarcastic, with an interesting world. What else can you ask for?
Ok so, this series is awesome! (tho Mistborn is still my favourite)But I've got to say, this book was a bit confusing and had too many tangled lines throughout.I don't know if it was the fact that I listened to it on audiobook instead of reading it, but I got a little lost with all the different factions involved, and the fact that you don't really know what the hell they want or why!Of course a lot of it is explained in the ending, but even more questions arise .Also, can I say SPOILER ALERT: Sadeas just dies like that?!? Really?! I mean, don't get me wrong, he's an asshole and I'm glad he died, but I was hoping for a bit more humiliation and confession and kick-ass from the good guys! Anyway...As usual, Sanderson's magic systems are pretty cool and the worldbuilding is awesomely epic!I still prefer the first book in this series ([b:The Way of Kings 7235533 The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive, #1) Brandon Sanderson https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1388184640s/7235533.jpg 8134945]) but this one definitely left me yearning for the final one!!
So, I read all the fairy tales when I was a kid and I seriously don't remember them being this “grim” (pardon the pun).
Of course, the children versions of these are much more tame and a lot of the gory details are left out, of course.
It's still very cool to read the “original” versions as an adult and really get a sense for these folk tales!
But if you're the kind of person that get upset at the amount of people George R.R. Martin kills off in his books, then don't read these!
I'll leave you with the example of the “The Death of the Little Hen” which end with: “...and then everyone was dead.”
After listening to a lot of Brandon Sanderson's podcasts online (Writing excuses and his 2012 BYU classes) I decided I just needed to read his books ASAP! (Btw, the podcast and classes are awesome and have great tips and inspiration to write!)I confess that the first time I heard of him was on Geek&Sundry's The StoryBoard and I didn't start reading Mistborn before I already knew some of the spoilers. But even that didn't detract from this book! It's awesome writing, great characters and keeps you wondering what the hell is really going on right until the end!And then you just have to start on the next one -[b:The Well of Ascension 68429 The Well of Ascension (Mistborn, #2) Brandon Sanderson http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1317065088s/68429.jpg 2120474]! Which I'm doing later today!Anyway, read it!! You won't regret it (or maybe you will, because then you'll be hooked on his books and won't have time to eat or sleep or anything else normal people do...)
