Liked this one. Things start to get really interesting with Murderbot especially has he's going back to his first team. The tension was quite heavy and I had a really hard time letting go of the book so I scarified some sleeping time just to finish it!

A nice anthology of queer Arab writers talking about their experience, their culture, encounters with white saviors, ... Most of them were really interesting, giving great cultural insights on Arab queer lives and perceptions. I learned quite a lot and saw several faults I did myself when interacting with queer Arab previously so this will help me be better.

Mon premier Baptiste Beaulieu, et je l'ai trouvé chargé d'une poésie magnifique et d'une humanité bouleversante. Une gallerie de rencontres, de parcours de vie extrêmement durs, envie de prendre tous ces gens dans les bras pour tenter d'apporter ne serait-ce que quelques secondes de réconfort. J'ai été profondément ému et remué par ces quelques pages.

Un essai très puissant et juste sur cette lente bascule d'une bonne partie des homosexuels vers la droite (voir carrément l'extrême droite). L'écriture de Didier Lestrade est extrêmement fluide et percutante, il ne mâche pas ses mots et met la communauté (et la république française) face à ses travers et contradiction, n'hésitant pas à mettre plusieurs personnaltiés au pied du mur face à leurs agissements. Une voix nécessaire depuis des années, mais encore plus à notre époque je trouve. Ce livre m'a ouvert les yeux sur pas mal de choses que je voyais se dérouler sans vraiment en comprendre les tenants et aboutissants.
Enfin, la Gay Pride entre dans son « âge bête » : elle ne parvient pas à créer des mots d’ordre qui dépassent les bonnes intentions et surtout elle n’exerce aucune pression politique alors que son cortège est la plus grande manifestation de rue du pays (plus de 500 000 personnes chaque année. En termes d’investissement politique, la Gay Pride est une opération « blanche ».

Et je ne suis pas sexologue, mais l'ensemble m'a paru profondément sexiste et vieillot.

Je dois avouer que beaucoup de passages m'ont profondément ému et je m'y suis retrouvé, où plutôt j'ai retrouvé ce que j'ai pu traverser il y a une décennie.
Ce livre traite donc autant de l'application que de nous en tant qu'hommes gays et des blessures que l'on s'inflige souvent entre nous, de notre sexualité très tournée vers la consommation, de notre rapport à nos corps etc. Je pense que c'est une lecture assez vitale pour tout homme gay.
On reproche souvent à Grindr d’être gangrenée par le racisme, la grossophobie, la follophobie, mais on oublie que l’application n’est qu’un miroir grossissant des mécanismes de domination qui structurent les rapports au sein de l’homosexualité masculine.

Was advised this one by a friend from Singapore after some discussion after World War II and after I realized that I knew almost nothing about what happened on the Asian front and what Japanese did to this area.
This tale was deeply moving, I was taken aback several times by the pure horrendous actions led by Japanese troops in the area while keeping the appearances and unwillingness to face the atrocities committed. I also learn a lot about this part of the world, the culture and the impact of the war that is still felt decades after.
The writing was really great, alternating stories and point of views, crossing decades before intertwining and I was surprised at every step. Wang Di character was beautifully written, showing the depths of her character as she went through so many things, but also the evolution of her relationships throughout this period.
I would totally recommend this book if you want to get to know more about what happened in this area during WW2.

Ok I really liked this one and I can feel the interest for the serie at this point (hence why I think the omnibus collecting the first 3 stories is perhaps the best way to start instead of having them separately). The murderbot psychology becomes really interesting, dealing with its boredom and willingness to protect humans even while it is released from its shackles. Still think the humor and anti-hero trope can be better, some parts made me smile but I was still expecting more on this side.
